Abington and Harrisburg Finish in a Scoreless Draw

Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team finished in a 0-0 draw on the road against Penn State Harrisburg in United East Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Harrisburg Turf Field on campus.

How It Happened
 
* Both teams totaled four shots in the first half with Abington holding the edge with three of its four on-goal.  Neither team registered a shot in the final 25 minutes of the opening half.
 
* Early in the second half Harrisburg nearly broke the scoreless drought but a shot by Jacob Tankersley hit off the crossbar.  Minutes later, senior goalkeeper Matt Sheldon made a clutch save off a header shot by Harrisburg's Jaden Longdon. 
 
* In the 76th minute both teams had a shot on goal.  Harrisburg's Alex Afata was denied by Sheldon on a header shot which turned out to be the home team's final shot on-goal for the game.  Junior Eljo Agolli got a shot on-goal :14 seconds later but his shot was stopped by Harrisburg's Shayon Kashi.
 
* Abington had one last chance to break the tie in the 88th minute with another shot on-goal by Agolli but Kashi was able to make another save. 
 
* Harrisburg got a shot off in the final minute, but it turned out to be wide right.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
*   Sheldon made four saves in net as he now has 50 on the year and 179 in his career.
 
* Agolli finished the game with three shots with two on-target, while senior Mike Thomas totaled three shots and one on-target.  Freshman Hugh Nungessor rounded out the shots for Abington as he totaled two with both being on-goal.
 
* For Harrisburg, Kashi finished with five saves.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the ninth meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011 season.  Abington is now 3-5-1 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 25 as the Nittany Lions wrap up the regular season with a home game against St. Mary's College (Md.).  Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Memorial Field.
