Abington Drops United East Finale at Harrisburg

Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team dropped its final United East Conference (UEC) contest of the season at Penn State Harrisburg by the score of 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Harrisburg Turf Field.

How It Happened
 
* Harrisburg scored four first half goals from four different players.  Kyla Brossoit gave the home team an early lead with the first of her two goals on the day coming in the eighth minute.  Olivia Inch scored in the 23rd minute and was followed with a score by Sydney Hemler minutes later to increase the lead to 3-0.  Sydney Armstrong capped the first half scoring with a goal in the final seconds.
 
* In the second half Hemler and Brossoit each recorded another goal early in the half.  Katelyn Monette also scored for Harrisburg with a goal in the 87th minute.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Sophomore Rachel Wilfrid and freshman Abby Brunnell split time in net for Abington as both goalkeepers recorded seven saves. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the seventh meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011 season.  Abington is now 2-5-0 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington will have one more tune up before the United East Tournament begins next weekend.  The Nittany Lions travel to face Cabrini University on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
