Abington Wraps Up Regular Season at Cabrini; Next Up United East Tournament

Radnor, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 1-0 setback at Cabrini University in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

How It Happened
 
* An early second half goal by Cabrini turned out to be the difference in the game.  In the 55th minute Alfa Orihuela scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Erin Ewing to give the Cavaliers the game's first lead.
 
* Abington had a chance to tie the game in the 63rd minute but a shot by junior Madison McDowell was stopped by the Cavs' keeper Kiara Soto.  McDowell got a shot off in the 66th minute which turned out to be the Nittany Lions' final shot of the game.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Freshman goalkeeper Abby Brunnell made two saves in a scoreless first half for the Nittany Lions.  Sophomore Rachel Wilfrid entered to start the second half and finished with one save.
 
* McDowell accounted for all seven shots by the Nittany Lions, including two on-goal.  Her seven shots were one shy of her season-high.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fourth meeting between Abington and Cabrini since the start of the 2012 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-3-1 versus the Cavaliers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 as the Nittany Lions begin their postseason journey.  Official United East Tournament pairings have yet to be released.
