Abington Falls on the Road to Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Salisbury University by the score of 97-63 on Wednesday night at the Maggs Center.

How It Happened
 
* Salisbury jumped out to a 14-point lead after Kaiden Mines knocked down back-to-back threes to give the Seagulls a 19-5 advantage at the 12:42 mark.  Over the next five minutes the Nittany Lions used a 13-5 run to cut the deficit down to 24-18 after senior Jake Schalki capped the run with a layup basket.
 
* Salisbury responded with three straight three-pointers to increase its lead back to double-digits at 33-18 with six minutes to play until halftime. The Seagulls maintained their double figure lead through the rest of the half and took a 49-30 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
 
* In the second half, Salisbury's lead never dipped below 21 points as the Seagulls shot over 50-percent from the field in the half.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Fifth-Year Alex Podolski led the Nittany Lions with a season-high 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.  Podolski also drained 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. 
 
* Junior Myles Haynes also set a season-high as he finished with 12 points.
 
* Schalki totaled 10 points and six rebounds, while redshirt sophomore Christian Niles added nine points and seven boards.
 
* For Salisbury, Mines totaled a team-high 18 points off the bench as he drained 6-of-9 from three-point range.  Reed Rebstock finished with 15 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the fourth meeting between Abington and Salisbury since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-4 versus the Seagulls in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 18 as the Nittany Lions host Clarks Summit University in a non-conference contest in the team's home opener at the Abington Athletic Building.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
