Abington Wins Third Straight with Landslide Victory Over Defenders

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team scored a season-high 95 points as the Nittany Lions defeated Clarks Summit University, 95-30, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* Abington opened the game on a 9-0 run before the Defenders scored their first basket.  From there, the Nittany Lions scored 10 unanswered points to take a commanding 17-point lead at the 4:37 mark. Freshman Sereniti Minor capped the team's second run of the quarter with a fastbreak basket started by a steal on the defensive end by junior Kaya Mobley.
 
* The Abington defense limited the Defenders to just six points in the first quarter, while the offense exploded for 34 points.  The Nittany Lions ended the quarter with a 28-point advantage.
 
* Abington opened the second quarter with an 8-0 run to push its lead to 36 at 42-6.  By halftime the Nittany Lions held a 53-10 lead after freshman Kylie Frey closed out the first half scoring with a three-pointer in the final seconds.
 
* The Nittany Lions outscored the Defenders, 44-20, in the second half. 
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Freshman Amirah Hackney led all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including 4-of-6 from deep range.  She also totaled seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
 
* Minor also scored in double-figures as she finished the game with 19 points (9-15 FG) to go along with 19 points.
 
* Freshman Amina Reid scored a season-high 13 points (5-10 FG) while dishing out four assists.
 
* Senior Angela Sanders filled the box score with nine points, nine assists and 14 rebounds.  She also had three steals on defense.  Sanders continues to inch closer to the 1,000 career points milestone as she now has 945 career points.
 
* Frey finished with 14 points; one shy of her season-high she recently set in the team's victory over Valley Forge on Saturday.
 
* Each player that saw action in the game scored at least one basket for the Nittany Lions.
 
* Abington shot a season-high 45.8-percent from the field and 42.3-percent from deep range. 
 
* For Clarks Summit, Kylee Miller scored a team-high 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks.  Victoria Hearn grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the fifth meeting between Abington and Clarks Summit since the start of the 2015-16 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 3-2 versus the Defenders in the all-time series.

Abington returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 25 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Salisbury University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 2 p.m.
