Podolski, Schalki Record Double-Doubles in Victory over Dolphins

Abington, Pa. –  Fifth-year guard Alex Podolski and senior Jake Schalki each recorded double-doubles as the Penn State Abington men's basketball team defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 75-69, in a non-conference contest on Monday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* With the score tied 60-60 with less than four minutes to play in regulation, Schalki drained a clutch three-pointer to give the Nittany Lions a three-point advantage.  After a defensive stop, Abington increased its lead to five when redshirt sophomore Christian Niles hit a jumper to make it a 65-60 game with 2:43 remaining.
 
* Abington never trailed the rest of the way and used free throws to keep the Dolphins at bay.  The Nittany Lions shot 8-of-9 from the free throw line in the final two minutes, including a perfect six by Podolski. 
 
* The Nittany Lions trailed by four points in the final minutes of the first half.  Podolski converted a pair of free throws at the 1:18 mark before junior Kolby Miller tied the game with a basket with less than a minute to play before halftime.  Miller's basket capped the scoring in the opening half as both teams were tied at 31-31. 
 
* Abington held the game's largest lead at the 8:41 mark of the first half with a 19-13 advantage before closing out the game with a six-point victory (75-69).
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Podolski recorded his second double-double of the season as he scored a game-high 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds.  His 25 points tied his season-high which he hit three times this year, while his 13 boards set a new career-high.  Podolski has scored 20-plus points in five straight games. He also shot a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line.
 
* Schalki, the United East Volt Division Defensive Player of the Week, recorded his fourth straight double-double and fifth of the season.  He totaled 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds. 
 
* Miller finished with 11 points as he tied his career-high for the third straight game.  He also totaled five rebounds and three assists.
 
* Niles contributed nine points.
 
* For Mount Saint Vincent, DJ Tucker registered a team-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds.  Kevin Agyemang finished with 16 points off the bench.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Mount Saint Vincent.

Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 6 as the Nittany Lions visit Delaware Valley University in a non-conference contest.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
