Abington Falls to Delaware Valley in Non-Conference Action

Doylestown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Delaware Valley University by the score of 81-60 on Wednesday night at James Work Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Abington scored the game's first seven points and jumped out to an 11-2 lead after redshirt sophomore Christian Niles scored a fastbreak basket 2:30 minutes into the game.  However, as the half progressed the Aggies used a 19-10 run over a 10-minute span to tie the game at 21-21.  Delaware Valley would go on to grab its first lead of the game and held a five-point advantage at 28-23 with less than five minutes to play in the half.
 
* In the final minute of the half, Delaware Valley led 34-32 but senior Jake Schalki drained a three-pointer with :30 seconds on the clock to give the Nittany Lions a 35-34 lead at the half.
 
* In the second half, Delaware Valley broke a 37-37 tie and went on a 15-3 run to grab the game's first double-digit lead.  Tyriq Toney-Bailey connected on a three-pointer at the 14:59 mark to give the Aggies a 52-40 advantage.
 
* Delaware Valley increased its lead to as many as 20 points later in the half after a jumper by Brendon Bradford made the score 72-52 with less than five minutes to play in regulation.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Schalki recorded his fifth straight double-double and his sixth of the season with a 14-point/13-rebound performance. 
 
* Junior Kolby Miller finished with a career-high 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.  He also totaled five rebounds.
 
* Junior Myles Haynes also finished in double-figures with 12 points.
 
* For Delaware Valley, Rasheem Dearry led all scorers with 17 points, while Goddy Marc totaled 14 points and Toney-Bailey added 12 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Delaware Valley.
 
Next Up
Abington is idle until Tuesday, Dec. 19 when the Nittany Lions travel to face Montclair State University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
