Abington Falls to Arcadia on the Road

Glenside, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Arcadia University by the score of 76-59 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Abington erased a 10-point second quarter deficit after the Knights took a 25-15 lead at the 8:06 mark.  The Nittany Lions used a 13-2 run over the next five minutes to grab their first lead since early in the first quarter.  Freshman Layla Reid converted a pair of free throws to give the Nittany Lions a 28-27 advantage with less than three minutes to play until halftime.
 
* Arcadia regained the lead three possessions later when Hanna Rhoades knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 30-28.  The Knights followed with another score on their next possession to increase the lead to 32-28 and that's where the score stood by the end of the half.
 
* The Knights opened the third quarter with a 12-4 run over the first four minutes to swell their lead to 44-32.  Arcadia went on to lead by as many as 19 points (57-38) in the third frame after Rhoades capped the scoring with a pair of free throws in the final minute.
 
* Arcadia maintained its double-digit lead the rest of the game and led by as many as 29 points at the 4:39 mark of the fourth quarter with a 74-45 advantage.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Senior Angela Sanders scored a game-high 26 points and in the process moved into fourth place in the program's all-time scoring list with 1,040 career points.  Sanders surpassed former standout Jessica Schmidt who scored 1,037 points from 2011 through 2015. 
 
* Freshman Amirah Hackney finished with nine points and seven rebounds, while Reid totaled eight points and five rebounds. 
 
* For Arcadia, Katie Rodriguez led the team with 20 points and a game-high 20 rebounds to record a double-double.  Rhoades and Delaney Bell each finished with 19 points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fifth meeting between Abington and Arcadia since the start of the 2011-12 season.  The Knights have won all five match ups against the Nittany Lions.
 
Next Up
Abington is idle until Monday, Dec. 18 when the Nittany Lions head across town to face Division II Chestnut Hill College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
