How It Happened

* Abington scored the game's first seven points and never looked back as the Nittany Lions controlled the game from beginning to end.  The Abington defense held the Wildcats to one field goal in the opening quarter which didn't occur until the 1:44 mark.  Junior Angela Sanders scored nine of the team's 13 points in the quarter as the Nittany Lions closed the quarter leading 13-3.

* In the second quarter, Abington led by as many as 14 points after a jumped by Sanders made the score 17-3 at the 7:53 mark.  Penn College followed with a quick 6-0 run to cut the deficit to single digits (17-9) with just over six minutes to play in the half.  Senior Isabella Vazquez halted the Wildcats' run with a three-pointer on Abington's next possession to increase the lead back to double-digits.

* Later in the second quarter Penn College cut the lead down to single digits once more. However, back-to-back jumpers by Sanders and senior Cassie Tavormina on the next two Abington possessions gave the Nittany Lions a double-digit advantage.  It would be the last time in the game that the deficit fell below double-figures. Abington led 28-15 at the half.

* In the third quarter the Abington lead swelled to as many as 19 points after sophomore Safara McIntyre made the score 44-25 with a fastbreak basket off a steal on defense.  The Abington lead grew to as high as 22 points on two occasions in the fourth.  The latter coming with 4:01 to play when freshman Sofia Granados hit a jumper to make the score 55-33.
