Abington’s Late Run Falls Short at St. Mary’s

St. Mary's City, Md. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team nearly erased a 13-point fourth quarter deficit at St. Mary's College of Maryland on Friday night at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics and Recreation Center Arena.  However, the Nittany Lions rally fell short in a 71-68 setback against the Seahawks in United East Conference (UEC) play.

* Senior Isabella Vazquez led all scorers with a game-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals on defense.  Vazquez converted 11-of-15 from the free throw line.
 
* Senior Angel Sanders recorded her 10th double-double of the season; one shy of her career-high.  She finished with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
 
* Sophomore Safara McIntyre also scored in double-figures as she added 13 points and eight rebounds to go along with a game-high four steals.
 
* For St. Mary's, Samantha Blaylock led the team with 22 points, while Karon Williams finished with 21 points and nine rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the fourth meeting between Abington and St. Mary's since the start of last season. The all-time series is tied at 2-2.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday as the Nittany Lions wrap up their road trip against Gallaudet University.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
