Hightower Stifles Cardinals’ Batters; K’s 12 in Shutout Victory

Auburndale, Pa. – Penn State Abington senior Brandon Hightower struck out a career-high 12 batters and held the St. John Fisher University offense to just three hits as the Nittany Lions defeated the Cardinals, 6-0, in a non-conference contest on Friday at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational.

How It Happened
 
* Hightower went 7.1 innings to pick up his first win of the season.  He finished the game with a career-high 12 strikeouts while holding the St. John Fisher offense to just three hits. 
 
* Sophomore Josh Henderson came in as relief and retired five straight batters to close out the game. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting between Abington and St. John Fisher and the first since the 2013 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 1-2 versus the Cardinals in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington will close out its Spring Break Trip with a doubleheader against Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on Saturday.  Game one is set for 9:45 a.m.
