Abington Falls to Nationally Ranked Rowan in Rain Shortened Game

Jenkintown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to nationally ranked No. 11 Rowan University by the score of 16-0 in a rain shortened five-inning game on Monday afternoon at Alverthorpe Park.

How It Happened
 
* Rowan plated four runs in the opening inning as Dylan Maria drove in a pair of runs with a double to left field after the first three batters reached base to open the scoring.  Anthony Schooley and Chris Curcio also drove in a run in the inning.  The Profs followed with an eight-run second inning to increase their lead to 12-0. Rowan tallied four more runs in the fifth inning.
 
* The Rowan pitching staff limited Abington to just two hits in the game.  Starter Zach Grace picked up the win as he struck out five batters in two innings of work.

* Juniors Justin Fogel and Eric Rollins each went 1-for-2 for the Nittany Lions.
 
* For Rowan, Brian Gallante finished 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Curcio went 2-for-2 with a run and four RBI.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 10th meeting between Abington and Rowan since the start of the 2013 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 3-7 versus the Profs in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Friday, March 31 as the Nittany Lions begin a three-game United East Conference series at Lancaster Bible College.  Friday's single game is set for 3 p.m.
