How It Happened

* Both teams scored a pair of runs in the opening inning before Abington erupted for five runs in the top half of the second.  The Nittany Lions collected five hits in the inning, including a two-run single by senior Megan Tomoney.  Sophomore Callie Chambers, freshman Emily Foxhill and sophomore Hailey Gamble all drove in a run in the inning.

* Leading 7-3 entering the third, Abington added four more runs to increase its lead to 11-3.  A three-run triple by senior Jenna Gorman highlighted the inning.

* In the bottom of the fourth the Defenders took advantage of two Abington miscues in the field to add four runs to their total.  Clarks Summit cut the deficit to 10-7.

* Later in the game Abington got three of those runs back with a three-run sixth inning.  Sophomore Drew Liss reached base off a throwing error to start the inning and scored on the very next batter when fellow sophomore tripled to right field.  Yanss would score as Clarks Summit misplayed the cutoff.  Abington added its 14th run when Gorman recorded her second triple of the game scoring Chambers who reached on an error.

* Clarks Summit made things interesting in the bottom of the sixth as the Defenders plated four runs to make it a 14-11 game before going scoreless in the seventh.
