Abington Falls to Mary Baldwin, 7-2

Staunton, Va. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match at Mary Baldwin University by the score of 7-2 on the team's Spring Break Trip on Thursday.

How It Happened
 
* Junior Tinatin Sadzaglishvili improved to 3-2 on the year in singles play as she defeated Mary Baldwin's Hannah Eastridge in straight sets at first singles.  Sadzaglishvili registered winning scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
 
* At second singles, junior transfer Elizabeth Turner picked up her first singles victory as she defeated Virani Bhagat in straight sets to earn the point for Abington.  She recorded scores of 6-4 and 6-1.
 
* Junior Elisa Steinhardt nearly came away with a victory at third singles.  Steinhardt won the first set by the score of 6-4, however Lauren Hodgkins tied the match with a 6-2 victory in the second set.  In the third set tiebreaker, Hodgkins jumped out to a 9-3 lead.  Steinhardt, facing match point six times, fought back to tie the score at 9-9.  Steinhardt fought off yet another match point before Hodgkins took the tiebreaker, 13-11.
 
* Mary Baldwin took all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead in the match.  The Fighting Squirrels followed with victories at singles matches three through six.

Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Mary Baldwin. 
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Friday, March 10 as the Nittany Lions wrap up their Spring Break Trip with a non-conference match at McDaniel College.  Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
