Abington Falls to Berks, 6-3

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team fell short to Penn State Berks, 6-3, in United East Conference (UEC) action on Tuesday afternoon at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.

How It Happened
 
* Sophomore Andrew Brown improved to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play at first singles after defeating Berks' Jazae Maina-Itegi in straight sets by the score of 6-3, 6-4.
 
* Freshman Tim Belotserkovsky remained undefeated in United East play after defeating Cole Epting in a pro-set match at fourth singles, 8-3.  Belotserkovsky is 5-1 this season at fourth singles.
 
* Freshman Nick Talarico earned the point at fifth singles with an 8-5 victory over Daniel Popovici in a pro-set match.  Talarico is now 9-1 overall this season, including 6-1 in the fifth spot and 3-1 in conference play.
 
* Berks opened the match winning all three doubles competitions and took the points and second, third and sixth singles.
 
* The second doubles match with Kurek and Guarino went down to the wire against Donovan Sullivan and Popovici.  Kurek and Guarino fell short, 8-7, in the match after dropping the tie-break, 12-10.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 15th meeting between Abington and Berks since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 9-6 versus Berks in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Thursday, April 13 as the Nittany Lions host Moravian University in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 4 p.m.
