Abington Falls to Stockton in Non-Conference Contest

Jenkintown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to Stockton University by the score of 12-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Alverthorpe Park.

How It Happened
 
* A first inning solo home run by Kevin Novobilsky gave the visitors from Stockton an early 1-0.  The Ospreys went on to score three more runs in the second inning to increase their lead to 4-0.  Antonio Gatti highlighted the inning with a two-run homer.
 
* Stockton went on to add three more runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.  Tucker Elder hit a two-run home run in the fifth.
 
* Abington spoiled Stockton's shutout bid in the seventh when the Nittany Lions got on the board.  Junior Tim Petrucelli hit a sacrifice fly to leftfield that scored junior Justin Fogel.  Fogel led the inning off with a triple.
 
* Michael Antonucci drove in Stockton's final run in the eighth inning with a double.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Fogel finished the game 2-for-4, including a double and a triple.  He also scored the team's lone run.  Fogel has hit safely in 14 straight games.
 
* Senior Zach Morales finished the game 2-for-2 with a double and two walks. 
 
* Sophomore Josh Henderson pitched two shutout innings of relief for the Nittany Lions.  He didn't allow a single base runner and struck out three of the six batters he faced.
 
* For Stockton, Elder went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Luke Fabrizzi went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.  Gatti and Jordan Nitti each finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 10th meeting between Abington and Stockton since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 2-8 all-time versus the Osprey in the all-time series.

Abington returns to action on Friday, April 7 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Penn State Berks in United East action.  First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
