Williamsport, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team outscored Penn College, 47-28, in the second half to come away with a 68-57 victory over the Wildcats in United East Conference (UEC) action on Tuesday night at Bardo Gymnasium.

How It Happened
* Penn College opened the second quarter with a 14-2 run to break a 12-12 tie that ended the first quarter. Rachel Teats capped the run with a jumper at the 4:18 mark of the quarter to give the Wildcats a 26-14 lead. Abington cut the deficit down to eight points by quarters end when freshman
Layla Reid scored the final basket of the half to make the score 29-21.
* Abington faced a 10-point deficit (35-25) at the 6:49 mark of the third quarter but used a quick 8-0 run to come within two points of tying the game. The Nittany Lions nearly erased the double-digit deficit in a minute of game action.
* As the third quarter progressed, the Nittany Lions eventually tied the game at 43-43 when senior
Angela Sanders scored a layup off an offensive board with 1:38 remaining. The Wildcats broke the deadlock on their next possession thanks to a pair of free throws from Allie Troup. Sanders added another score in the final minute to once again tie the game but Teats split a pair of free throws for the Wildcats to give the home team a 46-45 advantage heading into the final frame.
* In the fourth quarter it was all Abington. The Nittany Lions' offense scored the first eight points of the quarter to grab a healthy seven-point lead less than three minutes into the quarter. Freshman
Amirah Hackney drilled a three-pointer to make the score 53-46.
* Abington grabbed its first double-digit lead of the game when Sanders scored a layup midway through the quarter to make the score 59-49. The Nittany Lions held on to their double-digit advantage the rest of the quarter to cruise to the 11-point victory at 68-57.
Inside the Numbers
* Sanders recorded her ninth double-double of the season and the 33
rd of her career after leading the Nittany Lions with 19 points and 13 rebounds off the bench. Sanders shot 50-percent from the field (8-16) and also had three steals on defense.

Layla Reid also scored in double-figures as she finished with 11 points and seven rebounds to go along with four steals on defense, one shy of her season-high.
* Freshman
Amina Reid totaled 10 points, five rebounds and three assists. She also finished the game with four steals.
* Junior
Kaya Mobley tied the team lead with Sanders as she totaled 13 rebounds to go along with eight points, four assists and five blocks. Her five blocks set a new season-high.
* Hackney and freshman
Sereniti Minor each finished the game with eight points.
* For Penn College, Teats recorded a double-double as she led the Wildcats with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Troup added 12 points and four rebounds.

Tonight marked the 15
th meeting between Abington and Penn College since the start of the 2014-15 season. The Nittany Lions are now 11-4 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.
