Abington Falls to St. Mary’s (Md.) in United East Action

St. Mary's City, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest on the road against St. Mary's College (Md.) by the score of 74-54 on Sunday afternoon at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.

How It Happened
 
* Abington led 16-14 at the 10:36 mark of the first half when junior Na'Kai Carew scored a layup basket off an assist by junior Kobe Devine.  From there, the St. Mary's offense responded and closed out the half on a 22-3 run to take a 36-19 lead heading into halftime.
 
* Within the first five minutes of the second the Seahawks expanded their lead to 24 points with a 10-3 run.  A layup by Jake Koverman made the score 46-22. 
 
* The St. Mary's lead never drifted below 20 points until the final two minutes when the Nittany Lions cut the deficit down to 19 at 71-52.  The Seahawks largest lead was 29 points at the 7:47 mark after a three-pointer by Jaden Walker made the score 63-34.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Fifth-year Alex Podolski led the Nittany Lions with a game-high 15 points and 10 rebounds as he recorded his fourth double-double of the season.
 
* Devine totaled a season-high 11 points off the bench as he shot 4-of-8 from the field.
 
* Juniors Kolby Miller and and Myles Haynes each totaled six points.
 
* For St. Mary's, Daryn Alexander led the team with 12 points, while Koverman finished with 11 points and six rebounds.  Hollique Johnson also scored in double-figures as he finished with 10 points and seven boards.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the seventh meeting between Abington and St. Mary's since the start of the 2018-19 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 2-5 versus the Seahawks in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
The Nittany Lions return home to the Abington Athletic Building on Wednesday, Jan. 24 with a United East match up against Penn State Berks.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
