Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team fell short to Penn State Berks, 96-90, in United East Conference (UEC) action on Wednesday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* The game featured 13 lead changes and 18 ties with neither team holding a lead larger than two possessions.  Abington led a good portion of the first half and led by as many as six points on two separate occasions with the latter coming at the 9:23 mark.  Junior Kobe Devine drained a three-pointer to give Abington a 30-24 lead. 
 
* Later in the opening half, Abington found itself trailing 43-42 with less than five minutes to play until the half.  Back-to-back three-pointers by Alex Podolski and Myles Haynes gave Abington a 48-43 advantage.  The Nittany Lions carried a 50-48 lead into the half.
 
* In the second half Abington broke the game's final tie when Podolski split a pair of free throws to make the score 74-73.  On the ensuing Berks' possession, Andre Ballard completed a three-point play with a layup basket and free throw to give Berks the lead at 76-74 with 6:25 to play.
 
* Berks pushed its lead to six points twice down the stretch with the final time coming with :37 seconds remaining in regulation at 92-86.  Devine followed with a pair of free throws and then recorded a steal and was fouled in the process.  He connected on another two free throws to make the score 92-90.
 
* Berks finished the game shooting 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final :24 seconds to hold off Abington's comeback bid.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Podolski scored a career-high 33 points after shooting 12-of-19 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line.  He also totaled eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.  With his 33 points, Podolski is now 13 points shy of 1,000 for his career.  He'll enter his next game with 987 career points.
 
* Devine finished with a season-high 17 points off the bench as he converted a near-perfect 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
 
* Senior Jake Schalki recorded his 12th double-double of the year with 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. 
 
* Juniors Myles Haynes and Kolby Miller eached finished with 10 rebounds and four rebounds. 
 
* For Berks, Marquis Ferreira led the team with 29 points, while Ballard finished with 22 points off the bench.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 24th meeting between Abington and Berks since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 15-9 versus Berks in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 as the Nittany Lions host Lancaster Bible College in United East action.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
