How It Happened

* Abington trailed by as many as 22 points after Daniel King gave the Chargers a 49-27 advantage with a layup basket at the 17:32 mark of the second half. Despite the deficit the Nittany Lions bounced back and ripped off 13 straight points to cut the Chargers' lead to single digits at 49-40.  The 9-0 run was highlighted by a Podolski three-pointer at the 14:08 mark that gave him career points 998, 999 and 1,000.

* Lancaster Bible's Connor Storr hit a jumper to halt the Abington surge.  The Chargers would up their lead to 13 points with about 7-plus minutes to play when Ty Erisman connected on a three-pointer to make the score 61-48.

* Over the next five minutes the Nittany Lions went on another big run, this time a 19-5 rally that gave the home team a 67-66 lead.  It marked Abington's first lead since holding an 8-5 advantage early on in the first half. Junior Kobe Devine hit a jumper to bring the Nittany Lions within one point of the lead before Podolski gave the team a 67-66 edge with a layup score with less than three minutes to play in regulation.

* Outside a timeout the Chargers regained the lead at 68-67 thanks to a jumper by Luke Rumbaugh.  The Nittany Lions would tie the game on their next possession after Podolski split a pair of free throws.

* Lancaster Bible's Connorr Storr connected on a three-pointer to break the 68-68 tie with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.  The Nittany Lions scored twice on their next two possessions with junior Kolby Miller accounting for all three points.  Miller split a pair of free throws and then off a defensive stop scored a layup to tie the game at 71-71.

* The Chargers hit the game-winning basket with seconds left on the clock as Connor Storr scored the two-pointer to break the tie.  Abington managed a last second desperation shot as time expired but the three-pointer fell short at the horn.

Inside the Numbers

* Podolski recorded his fifth double-double of the season with a 23-point performance to go along with 13 rebounds that tied his career and season-highs.  Podolski entered the game needing only 13 points to become the fourth player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone.  As previously mentioned, Podolski scored career points 998, 999 and 1,000 with a three-pointer at the 14:08 mark of the second half.  With his 23 points, Podolski now has 1,010 career points and is 55 points shy of tying former standout Devin Jones who scored 1,065 points in his career.

* Senior Jake Schalki finished the game with 15 points (5-8 FG) and seven boards.

* Junior Myles Haynes shot 5-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-2 from deep range to contribute 15 points.

* Miller also scored in double-figures as he totaled 10 points to go along with three rebounds and four assists.

* The Nittany Lions outscored the Chargers, 51-32, in the second half and shot 57-percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

* For Lancaster Bible, Grant Sareyka scored a team-high 15 points, while Maureon Tisdale-Couch finished with 14 points.
