Abington Falls Short at Stockton, 46-40

Galloway, N.J. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team fell short in a non-conference contest at Stockton University by the score of 46-40 on Monday night at the Sports Center.

How It Happen
 
* The Nittany Lions faced a 14-point deficit early in the fourth quarter with the Osprey leading 41-27 at the 8:52 mark.  Abington followed with a 13-1 run over the next eight minutes to come within two points of tying the game.  Freshman Amirah Hackney drained a three-pointer with :52 seconds remaining to make the score 42-40. Hackney scored seven of the team's 13 points during the rally, including two clutch three-pointers.
 
* Stockton was able to hold off the Abington comeback bid by converting 4-of-4 free throw attempts in the final :13 seconds of the game.
 
* The Nittany Lions held Stockton to just 1-of-16 shooting from the field in the fourth quarter and forced six turnovers.  The Osprey, prior to making their final four free throw attempts, went 1-of-4 from the line earlier in the quarter.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Senior Angela Sanders led all scorers with 17 points on her way to her seventh double-double of the season and third straight.  Sanders grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds securing her 31st career double-double.
 
* Junior Kaya Mobley finished with double-digit rebounds for the second straight game as she grabbed 10 boards to go along with four assists, four blocks and four points. 
 
* Hackney totaled nine points and five rebounds. 
 
* Freshman Amina Reid accounted for four of the team's 10 steals.  Reid also had four assists.
 
* For Stockton, Emma Morrone recorded a unique double-double as she finished the game with 11 points and 10 steals.  She also had seven rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Stockton.

Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 10 as the Nittany Lions host Gallaudet University in a United East match up.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Abington Athletic Building.
