Abington Rallies to Finish in a 2-2 Draw at Berks

Reading, Pa. - Senior Madison McDowell scored two second half goals as the Penn State Abington women's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to finish in a 2-2 tie at Penn State Berks in a United East Conference (UEC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the PSU-Berks Turf Field.

How It Happened
 
* Abington trailed 2-0 after Berks scored a pair of goals within the first five-plus minutes of action. The score remained that way until the 54th minute when McDowell brought the Nittany Lions within one score of the lead with the first of her two second half tallies.
 
* McDowell struck again 20 minutes later when she fired off a shot in the 76th minute to tie the game at 2-2.  It marked her 15th goal of the season.
 
* Abington nearly broke the tie in the final seconds of the game but back-to-back shots by junior Giavonna Rebilas and freshman Meghan McGinly were stopped by Berks' Sophia Gonzalez.
 
* Minutes prior, senior goalkeeper Rachel Wilfrid kept the tie intact with a key save on a shot by Maya Dolan in the 87th minute.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* McDowell recorded her fourth multi-goal of the season, including her second in the last three games.  The program's all-time leading scorer now has 37 career goals and 86 career points.
 
* Wilfrid finished the game with six saves; three in each half.  She is now one save shy of 200 for her career.
 
* Abington was held without a shot in the first half, but fired off five in the final 45 minutes with all five on-target. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 17th meeting between Abington and Berks since the start of the 2011 season.  Abington is now 1-14-2 versus Berks in the all-time series. The tie is the first against Berks since the 2012 season.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 as the Nittany Lions host Penn State Brandywine in a United East contest. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Field.
