How It Happened

* The Abington offense scored seven first half goals with the first three coming within the first 10 minutes of game action.  Freshman Meghan McGinly scored a pair of goals in a minute span to give the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead by the fifth minute. McGinly now has seven goals on the year. Sophomore Nayeska Ravelo scored the first of her three goals on the day in the ninth minute to expand the lead to three.

* Freshman Kaitlyn Frank scored her third goal of the season in the 15th minute before the team was gifted a goal by a Brandywine own goal to make the score 5-0 Abington.  Later in the half, Ravelo scored in the 30th minute and capped the first half with her third goal in the 44th minute for her second hat-trick of the season. Her latter score marked her 10th of the season.

* In the second half, senior Madison McDowell scored all three goals for the Nittany Lions in a 10-minute span starting in the 61st minute.  The game was called after 70 minutes of game play.

Inside the Box Score

* McDowell and Ravelo are just the second set of teammates to record hat-tricks in a single game in the program's Division III era.  McDowell and former standout Grace Burns each tallied a hat-trick at Gwynedd Mercy University in a 2022 season opener.

* McDowell's three goals increased her season total to 18 which set a new single season program record.  The previous record of 17 goals scored in a season was set by Kayla Nolan (2014) and Emily Kennedy (2015).  McDowell now has 40 career goals and 93 career points; seven shy of the century mark.

* Freshman Meghan McMeel tied the single game record with three assists in the game.

* Senior Rachel Wilfrid and sophomore Abby Brunnell recorded a combined shutout splitting time in net.

* Freshman Jenna Beltle recorded a season-high two assists.

* The Abington defense held Brandywine without a shot.  It's the third time in the team's D-III era that an opponent didn't fire off a shot in a game.  The last time was on Sept. 11, 2016 versus Saint Elizabeth University in a 9-0 Abington victory.

* The offense scored a program record 10 goals along with setting a new mark for most points in a game with 26.  The Nittany Lions finished the afternoon with 10 goals and six assists; tying the program's all-time mark for assists in a game.  The last time the Nittany Lions registered six assists was versus Gallaudet University last season.
