POSTSEASON BOUND! Abington Clinches with Win Over Chargers

Abington, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer team will be heading back to the United East Conference (UEC) tournament after defeating Lancaster Bible College, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.  The Nittany Lions remain undefeated in conference play at 6-0-0 and currently holds the top spot in the United East standings.

How It Happened
 
* After a scoreless first half, Abington wasted zero time finding the back of the net to open the second half.  Senior Arsene Bado connected on his fourth goal of the season and his second straight game-winning goal to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute.  Freshman Nico Anagnostopoulos assisted on the score for his first collegiate point.
 
* The Abington defense kept the Chargers in-check the rest of the way holding Lancaster Bible to just one off-target shot in the second half.  The Chargers had a pair of shots in the opening half with their only on-target shot coming in the ninth minute. 
 
* The Nittany Lions sealed the victory with a last-minute goal by senior Eljo Agolli in the 89th minute.  It marked his fourth goal of the season.  Freshman Rael Halim was credited with the assist for his first career point.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Bado's first-half goal was his 25th career score.  He now ranks fifth all-time in goals scored.
 
* Agolli also moved up in the record books with his second half tally.  He now has 28 career goals; one shy of third place behind Alex Martins.  Furthermore, Agolli now has 78 career points sliding ahead of Elsion Pajollari for second place in the program's record book.
 
* Both Anagnostopoulos and Halim each recorded their first career assists.
 
* Senior goalkeeper Brendan Werner faced only three shots and made one stop to register his sixth shutout of the season and ninth of his career.  He's now tied for second all-time in shutouts with former teammate Matt Sheldon.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 14th meeting between Abington and Lancaster Bible since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 8-4-2 versus the Chargers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 as the Nittany Lions take a break from United East play to host Roanoke College in a non-conference match up.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Field.
