Agolli, Werner Set Program Records in Win at Bryn Athyn

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – Seniors Eljo Agolli and Brendan Werner each set new program records as the Penn State Abington men's soccer team improved to 7-0-0 in United East Conference (UEC) action after defeating cross-town rival Bryn Athyn College, 6-0, on Tuesday night at General Ronald K. Nelson Field. Agolli finished the game with two goals and two assists as he became the program's all-time assists leader with 24.  Werner, who already set the single season record for most shutouts,  set the program record for most career shutouts after notching his 11th blank slate in his career.

How It Happened
 
* The Abington offense proved to be too much for the Bryn Athyn defense as the Nittany Lions recorded a season-high 34 shots with 19 on-goal; one shy of the team's season-best.
 
* Senior Arsene Bado scored the team's first goal of the night minutes into the game as Agolli assisted on the play.  Bado later scored in the 61st minute of the second half for his first multi-goal game of the season.
 
* In the 14th minute sophomore Laurence Narcisi doubled the Nittany Lion lead with his seventh goal of the season.  Agolli once again assisted on the score as Abington increased its lead to 2-0.
 
* Abington wasted zero time attached the Bryn Athyn defense as Agolli tacked on a goal in the first two minutes of the second half.  Sophomore Hugh Nungessor assisted Agolli on the goal.  Agolli later scored his second goal of the game in the 71st minute.
 
* Junior Ryan Lawler capped the team's scoring with his first goal of the season in the 86th minute that extended the Nittany Lion lead to six.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Agolli entered the game tied on top the all-time assists list with former standout Jose Palomeque. After his two assist night, he exited the game as the program's all-time leader in the category with 24.  Also, with his two goals, Agolli now has 30 in his career which ranks third all-time.  He also increased his career points total to 84 which stands second best behind the program's all-time leading scorer, Hernando Villamil, who totaled 103 points in his career.
 
* The Bryn Athyn defense managed just two off-target shots, one in each half, as Werner recorded his eighth shutout of the season and most importantly the 11th of his career.  Werner surpassed Esteban Leon, who had 10, for most career shutouts.
 
* Five different players recorded assists for the Nittany Lions.  Senior Lucas Carneiro recorded his first assist of the season on Bado's second goal of the game.  Junior Tony Colon tallied his second helper of the season with his assist on Agolli's second goal in the second half.  Nungessor set a career-high with his third assist of the season with his first half assist on Agolli's first goal.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 12th meeting between Abington and Bryn Athyn since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 12-0-0 versus the Lions in the all-time series. 
 
Postseason Picture
The Nittany Lions are one of two unblemished teams in the United East this season with St. Mary's College (Md.) being the other as both teams enter the final regular season contest 7-0-0.  With a win on Saturday against Penn State Harrisburg, Abington will guarantee a first-round bye in the upcoming United East Tournament. 
 
Next Up
Abington will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 26 as the Nittany Lions host Harrisburg at Memorial Field.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.  Prior to the game, Abington will recognize its senior class in part of Senior Day Festivities.
