Abington Dominates Keystone in United East Action

Abington, Pa. - Sophomore Nayeska Ravelo recorded her first career hat-trick as the Penn State Abington women's soccer team defeated Keystone College, 9-1, in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.  The Nittany Lions tied the program record with nine goals in a game for the second time this season.

How It Happened
 
* Abington scored two early first half goals before ripping off seven scores in the second half.  The program's all-time leading scorer, senior Madison McDowell, scored the game's first goal in the 10th minute of action to give the Nittany Lions an early 1-0 lead.  The team doubled the score in the 17th minute after Ravelo scored the first of her three goals.
 
* Twenty-three seconds into the second half, Ravelo scored her second goal of the game to make the score 3-0.  She recorded her third goal of the game later in the half in the 57th minute right after McDowell connected on her second score in the 54th minute.
 
* The Nittany Lions had four different scorers register goals for the team's final four tallies of the game.  Freshmen Meghan McGinly and Meghan McMeel scored back-to-back goals in the 61st and 62nd minute respectively.  Freshman Jenna Beltle scored her first collegiate goal in the 65th minute, before junior Giavonna Rebilas scored in the 78th minute.
 
* Keystone's Brooke Freni spoiled the Nittany Lions' shutout bid with the lone score for the Giants in the 87th minute.

* Ravelo's three goals marked her first career hat-trick and her third career multi-goal game.
 
* McDowell finished the game with six points after scoring two goals and assisting on two others.  She now has 35 career goals and 82 career points.
 
* McGinly and McMeel each had a goal and an assist in the game.
 
* As a team, the Nittany Lions fired off 32 shots; second most this season.  Abington also recorded a season-high 25 points on nine goals and seven assists setting a new program record.  The seven assists also marks the most helpers in a game since the team recorded six against Gallaudet University a year ago.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the second meeting between Abington and Keystone since the start of the 2021 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 2-0-0 versus the Giants in the all-time series.

Abington returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Rosemont College in a United East match-up.  Game time is set for 8 p.m.
