How It Happened

* Abington earned the team point in doubles after winning first and second flight.  The team of Laurie Flemming and Isabella DePorre earned the victory at first doubles with a 6-2 victory over Eastern's Mary Brusstar and Anisah Smith.  At second doubles, Jess Battulga and Soniyah Youngblood defeated Sarah Mower and Rhyan Metzger, 6-3.

* In singles play, Flemming won her first singles match with ease after shutting out Brusstar in the first set, 6-0.  Flemming then won the second set by the score of 6-2.

* At third singles, Battulga won her first collegiate match.  After dropping the first set, 7-6, Battulga rallied and took the second set with a dominant 6-1 victory to tie the match.  She then won the tie-breaker, 10-7, in which she never trailed.

* Abington clinched the team victory after Youngblood won her fourth singles match against Metzger.  Youngblood took the opening set, 7-5, before Metzger went on to tie the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set.  Not fazed by the setback, Youngblood scored the first six points of the tie-breaker in which she won, 10-4.

* Nika Kosashvili won her first collegiate match after going a full three sets against Anaya Birch.  Kosashvili won the first set, 6-2, but Birch picked up the victory in the second set (6-0) to force a third set tie-breaker.  Kosashvili led throughout the tie-break and cruised to a 10-3 victory.
