Abington Drops United East Opener to Chargers

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped its United East Conference (UEC) opener to Lancaster Bible College by the score of 82-64 on Tuesday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* Lancaster Bible opened the game on a 13-2 run and held a double-digit lead majority of the game.  The Nittany Lions trailed by single digits at the 15:05 mark of the first half when junior Dylan Shead scored a layup basket to make the score 13-5. 
 
* The Chargers quickly increased their lead back to double-figures on their next possession after a Reaves Hooks layup.  From there, Lancaster Bible swelled its lead to as many as 22 points late in the half.  Shaun Pulley split a pair of free throws to make the score 44-23 with 1:51 to play until halftime.  The Chargers led, 45-25, at the half.
 
* In the second half the Nittany Lions were unable to overcome the large deficit as the Chargers increased their lead to 25 points at the 14:32 mark.  Grant Sareyka finished a fast-break play with a layup basket that made the score 59-34.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Freshman Jahad Marable recorded his first career double-double with 15 points and a season-high 12 rebounds. Marable also dished out four assists and had two steals on defense.
 
* Senior Kobe Devine also scored in double-figures as he totaled 11 points.
 
* Senior Myles Haynes added eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Haynes also recorded four assists.
 
* Redshirt junior Christian Niles and freshman Anthony Pineda each totaled eight points.
 
* For Lancaster Bible, Sareyka scored a game-high 30 points (12-16 FG) to go along with four assists and four steals. Camden Hurst also finished in double-figures with 12 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 27th meeting between Abington and Lancaster Bible since the start of the 2011-12 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 6-21 versus the Chargers in the all-time series.

Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 30 as the Nittany Lions travel to face St. Joseph's University Brooklyn in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
