How It Happened

* Both teams were held without a run until the bottom of the fifth inning when Neumann broke the scoreless tie.  With one out in the inning, back-to-back singles followed by a hit by pitch loaded the bases for the Knights.  Brandon Colon forced a groundout which drove in a run before redshirt junior Alex Margot closed out the inning by striking out Joe Boccio.

* The Knights doubled their lead in the bottom of the sixth when AJ Nardo drove in Zion Spearman with an infield hit.  Spearman led the inning off with a base hit.

* In the bottom of the seventh Neumann added a pair of runs with Spearman coming through with a run scoring single.  The Knights also stole a run with a two-out error by the Nittany Lions.

* Abington threatened in the final two frames.  With two outs in the top of the eighth the Nittany Lions had runners on first and second and then in the ninth had two runners in scoring position with also two outs.

Inside the Numbers

* In his first start of the season, Margot struck out seven batters in 5.2 innings of work.  He allowed just two run and didn't walk a single batter.

* Abington received hits from Sean Doherty (1-4), Donato Incollingo (1-4), Josh McGee (1-3) and Montana Milward (1-4).

* For Neumann, Spearman finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Josh Lillis (1-0) picked up the win as he struck out 12 batters in six innings and allowing only three hits.

All-Time Series
Today marked just the third meeting between Abington and Neumann.  The two teams faced one another twice during the 2019 campaign.  The Nittany Lions are now 1-2 versus the Knights in the all-time series.
