Abington Falls to Harrisburg in United East Contest

Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest at Penn State Harrisburg by the score of 72-57 in the team's final road game of the regular season on Wednesday night at the Capital Union Building.

How It Happened
 
* Abington jumped out to a five-point lead after fifth-year guard Alex Podolski converted a pair of free throws to make the score 9-4 at the 14:17 mark.
 
* Over the next 14-plus minutes of the half, Harrisburg outscored Abington by a 36-6 margin to lead 40-15 at the half.  Harrisburg held Abington scoreless for a seven-minute stretch during its run.
 
* Abington cut into the deficit despite Harrisburg maintaining its double-digit lead in the second half.  Abington came within 13 points later in the half when junior Kobe Devine connected on two free throws to make the score 62-49 with 5:36 to play.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Devine led Abington with a team-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds.  He finished the game with a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line.
 
* Senior Jake Schalki finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while totaling five steals on the defensive front.
 
* Redshirt sophomore Christian Niles totaled nine points and three rebounds, while Podolski added eight points and five rebounds.
 
* For Harrisburg, Donyae Baylor-Carrol led all scorers with 31 points while totaling six assists and six steals.  Nate Curry and Isaiah Millien each added 11 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 14th meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 3-11 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 10 as the Nittany Lions host Penn College in United East action.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Abington Athletic Building.  Prior to the game, the Nittany Lions will recognize its Senior Class in part of Senior Day festivities.
