Abington Visits Moravian for Non-Conference Match

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team dropped a non-conference contest at Moravian University by the score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Hoffman Tennis Courts.

How It Happened
 
* Moravian took all three doubles competitions, but Abington made the Greyhounds work for the points.  At first doubles, senior Josh Kurek and freshman Wenxu Gu nearly went the distance against Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer falling to the Greyhounds' duo, 8-6. 
 
* At third doubles, sophomores Adrian Schembri and Nick Talarico also battled to an 8-6 score with Moravian's Garrett Morris and Steve Schneider coming away with the win.
 
* Talarico earned Abington's lone point in singles play as he defeated Jesse Russo in straight sets by identical 7-5 scores.  The win marked Talarico's second straight singles victory against Moravian.
 
* Freshman Tripp Mangifesta went the distance at fourth singles with Morris.  Morris though won both sets winning the two tiebreaks by the same 7-2 scores.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the third meeting between Abington and Moravian since the start of the 2021-22 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-3 versus the Greyhounds.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, March 19 as the Nittany Lions host Alvernia University for the team's spring home opener.  Match time is set for 3 p.m.
