How It Happened

* A 14-run ninth inning by Hood turned out to be the difference in the game.  With the score tied 10-10 entering the final frame, the Blazers erupted for 14 runs to take a commanding 24-10 lead.  Hood sent 20 batters to the plate and collected eight hits in the inning, including a three-run double by Austin Rhue and a two-run homer by Sebastian Paz.

* Abington trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the third but one swing of the bat by senior Shane Fillman made it a 5-3 game.  Fillman connected on a three-run shot over the center field fence for his second home run of the season.

* The Nittany Lions grabbed their first lead of the game in the fourth with a five-run inning. Junior Jake Fallers led the inning off with his second home run of the season. Abington took advantage of three fielding miscues by the Blazers.  Senior Montana Milward forced in a run with a bases loaded walk and then Fallers followed with the same in his second at-bat of the inning.

* Abington made it 9-6 in the bottom of the fifth when senior Sean Doherty drove in freshman Dominic Hoguet with a base hit to left-center field.  Hoguet singled earlier in the inning to reach base.

* Hood regained the lead in the top half of the seventh after scoring four runs.  James Gruenfeld put the Blazers ahead 10-9 with a two-run homer to cap the scoring in the inning.

* The Nittany Lions tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a leadoff homer by senior Eric Rollins.  It marked his third straight game with a home run.

Inside the Numbers

* Fillman finished the game 4-for-5 at the plate, including his third inning home run.  He tied his season-high with four RBI.

* Rollins went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.  His seventh inning home run marked this four long ball in his last five games.

* Doherty also had multiple hits as he finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
