Abington Opens Spring Season at Albright

Reading, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team opened the spring portion of the 2023-24 season with a non-conference match at Albright College on Saturday afternoon.  The Lions defeated the Nittany Lions, 9-0.

How It Happened
 
* In singles play, sophomore Soniyah Youngblood went to a tiebreaker in her fourth singles match against Megan Colaneri.  Youngblood won two straight points to cut the tiebreak to 5-4 but Colaneri finished with a 7-5 victory to win the match, 7-6.  All singles matches were played as supersets.
 
* Albright opened the match taking all three doubles competitions as the Lions entered singles play ahead 3-0.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the eighth meeting between Abington and Albright since the start of the 2011-12 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 3-5 versus the Lions in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, March 13 as the Nittany Lions host Cedar Crest College in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.
