How It Happened

* Abington won third doubles as sophomores Tim Belotserkovsky and Nick Talarico defeated Berks' Jack Dougherty and Alan Ngo, 8-6.  With the match tied 5-5, Belotserkovsky and Talarico won three of the next four games to pick up the team's lone point in doubles play.

* Berks won first doubles and second doubles by identical 8-5 scores.

* At first doubles, freshman Wenxu Gu won 10 of his first 12 games against Muhammad Esmat.  Gu won the first set, 6-1, and took the second set by the score of 6-4.

* Senior Josh Kurek went the distance at second singles against Jazae Maina-Itegi.  Kurek won the first set, 6-4, before Maina-Itegi tied the match with a 7-5 victory in the second set. In the third and decisive set, Kurek trailed 2-0 early on but went on to tie the score at 3-3.  He broke serve to go up 4-3 and held and broke serve again to win the set, 6-3.  Kurek's win at second singles tied the overall match at 3-3.

* Talarico gave Abington a 4-3 lead in the match with his fifth singles victory.  Talarico defeated Rajas Joshi in straight sets by the scores of 6-0, 6-4.

* Sophomore Adrian Schembri clinched the win for Abington with his win at sixth singles.  Schembri cruised past Ngo in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

* Berks took the points at third and fourth singles.  Freshman Tripp Mangifesta nearly pulled off a come-from-behind victory at fourth singles against Weston Weaver.  After dropping the first set, 7-5, Mangifesta rallied to take the second set, 6-4, to tie the match.  Weaver jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the tiebreak and later led 8-3.  However, Mangifesta won five straight to tie the score at 8-8. Weaver though won three of the next four games to take the tiebreak, 11-9.
