How It Happened (Game 1)

* Abington took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the second inning thanks to a two-run home run by senior Montana Milward

* The Highlanders answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning as Nathan Schurga belted a two-run homer of his own to make the score 3-2.  Two batters prior, Sam Spadea forced home Cairn's first run on a sacrifice fly.

* Cairn made the score 4-2 in the third inning with a Will Wikner run scoring base hit.

* Abington cut the lead to one in the top half of the fifth with a solo run.  Senior Sean Doherty drove in Milward with a two-out single through the right side to make the score 4-3.

* The Highlanders once again responded to the Abington score with a score of their own in the bottom of the frame. Wikner drove in his second run of the game to increase the lead to 5-4.

* Cairn's run in the fifth inning turned out to be a big one as the Nittany Lions made things interesting in the seventh. With the bases loaded and Abington down to its final out, Doherty was hit by a pitch to force home a run that made the score 5-4.  However, the Highlanders were able to get the next batter to ground out to hold onto the one-run victory.
