How It Happened (Game 1)

* Abington scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second inning with a sacrifice fly by junior Callie Chambers.  Junior Hailey Gamble, who led the inning off with a triple, scored on the play to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead.

* The one-run lead was plenty for Yanss as she limited the Bison to just two hits in five innings of work.  In the top half of the fourth inning, Yanss registered her 300th career strikeout when she fanned Adele Daniels for the second out in the inning.  She finished the game with nine strikeouts tying her season-high.

* Abington scored five times in the bottom of the fourth to put the game out of reach with a 6-0 advantage.  Five different players forced in runs, including back-to-back bases loaded walks issued to freshmen Victoria Butler and Isabella Antosiewicz

* The Nittany Lions walked the game off in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of two-out unearned runs.  Butler forced the eight-run mercy rule with a single up to the middle to score freshman Rylee Albany.

Inside the Numbers (Game 1)

* Yanss recorded her fifth shutout of the season as she also picked up her eighth victory.  She finished the game with nine strikeouts and went on to enter game two needing only five more strikeouts to break the all-time record. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run.

* Gamble went 3-for-3 with three runs.  She had two extra-base hits with a double and a triple.

* Butler also had three hits in the game as she went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a walk.

* For Gallaudet, Olivia Taufu'I and Lou Cherena each had the team's lone two hits.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* In game two, the Abington offense supplied Yanss with five runs within the first two innings.  The Nittany Lions took advantage of a pair of fielding errors by the Bison in the first inning.  With runners on at second and third, Gamble drove both in with a base hit to left field.  She would then score on a single by freshman Ava Livingston

* Freshman Marlena Hacker had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second that scored Antosiewicz who reached on a triple prior to Hacker's at-bat.  The run increased the Abington lead to 5-0.

* Yanss entered game two needing just five strikeouts to become the program's all-time leader.  In the top of the fourth, Yanss struck out Karla Gomez-Zepeda looking for the historic punchout.  It was her final pitch of the game as she registered strikeout number 308.

* The Nittany Lions led 8-1 entering the bottom of the fifth and once again walked the game off with the eight-run mercy rule.  Antosiewicz singled to right field to score freshman Sara Slimm who led the inning off with a walk.

Inside the Numbers (Game 2)

* Yanss earned the win as she now has nine on the year.  She struck out five batters in four innings of work.  For the afternoon, Yanss went 2-0 with 15 strikeouts in nine innings.  She held the Bison combined to just one run and five hits in the doubleheader.  Offensively, Yanss went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run and two RBI.
