Abington Falls to St. Mary’s in United East Contest

St. Mary's City, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest at St. Mary's College (Md.) by the score of 6-0 on Friday afternoon at the Somerset Tennis Courts.  The match was called prior to full completion due to rain.

How It Happened
 
* At first doubles, freshmen Wenxu Gu and Tripp Mangifesta trailed 6-3 to the Seahawks' Boris Palmade and Nick Rohr but rallied to tie the match at 6-6.  However, Palmade and Rohr were able to record the next two points to take the match, 8-6.
 
* St. Mary's won all three doubles competitions and began the match leading 3-0 heading into singles play.
 
* The Seahawks clinched the match with victories at first, second and third singles.  The remaining singles matches went unfinished due to the match being called for rain.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the fourth meeting between Abington and St. Mary's since the start of the 2021-22 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-4 versus the Seahawks in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Sunday, April 7 as the Nittany Lions host Clarks Summit University in a United East contest.  Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.
