How It Happened

* An unassisted goal by the Valiants in the 18th minute turned out to be the difference in the game.  Lucas Fernandez scored the game's lone goal for his first score of the season with a shot that hit towards the lower left of the net.

* Moments before Manhattanville's score, freshman Rael Halim, who was making his first collegiate start, nearly gave the Nittany Lions the game's first lead.  Halim's shot hit right off the left post just missing the wide-open spacing between the net and the Valiants' keeper.

* Abington posted a season-high 19 shots with eight on-target setting a season-best in that category as well.  The Nittany Lions recorded 11 shots in the second half, while the defense limited the Valiants to just one shot in the final 45 minutes.

* The Nittany Lions had a chance in the final minute to tie the game with a free kick just outside the box, however the shot went just right of the net.

Inside the Box Score

* Senior goalkeeper Brendan Werner, who was named the United East's Defensive Player of the Week, made four saves in net all coming in the first half.
