How It Happened

* Sophomore Nayeska Ravelo scored the game's first goal in the 20th minute for her second tally on the year.  Ravelo had a breakaway opportunity and was able to find the back of the net to give the Nittany Lions an early 1-0 lead.

* The score remained 1-0 in favor of Abington until the second half when Ravelo struck again for her second goal of the game.  Another breakaway scenario down the middle of the field setup the score minutes into the new half.

* In the 57th minute senior Madison McDowell connected on her second goal of the season off a free kick from on top of the box.  Her score increased the Nittany Lions' lead to 3-0.

* Minutes later the Nittany Lions capped the scoring after freshman Meghan McGinly scored her first career goal.  Sophomore Sara Hogan was credited with the assist as she fed McGinly the ball off a throw-in.

Inside the Box Score

* Ravelo's two scores marked her second career multi-goal game and tied her career-high with three goals in a season.   She scored two goals last year in her first collegiate game at Eastern University.

* McDowell's second half score marked her 24th career goal as she is now alone in fifth place in the program's record book.

* Senior goalkeeper Rachel Wilfrid recorded her first career shutout after keeping the Bloundhounds off the board with seven saves.  With her seven stops, Wilfrid moved into third place on the all-time saves list with 167 career saves.  She trails Gabrielle Benedict, who ranks second all-time,  with 182 career saves.

All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and John Jay.  Today's win avenged last year's defeat to the Bloodhounds in the first-ever meeting that took place at Memorial Field.
