Abington Drops Non-Conference Match to York

Abington, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to York College (Pa.) by the score of 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* Minutes into the game the Nittany Lions had two great opportunities to score.  A header shot by senior Arsene Bado was stopped by goalkeeper Jake Bono.  A corner kick chance followed and Bado got another shot off on-goal, however Matt Zeiders made a defensive play preventing the goal.
 
* The Spartans scored two first-half goals to lead 2-0 by halftime.  The first of the two scores came in the 15th minute when Owen Henderlite scored an unassisted goal.  Later in the half the Spartans' struck again this time off the foot of Noah Roche who received a pass from Jack Mitzelfelt to increase the lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute.
 
* The score remained 2-0 until the 84th minute when the Nittany Lions scored their first goal of the game.  Senior Eljo Agolli converted a penalty kick opportunity to cut the lead to 2-1 marking his first goal of the season.
 
* Agolli nearly tied the game minutes later with a shot on-goal but Bono made the stop.  The Nittany Lions had another chance to tie the game in the final minute with a corner kick opportunity but were unable to get attempt on net. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Agolli's PK score in the second half marked his 25th career goal moving him into sole possession of fourth place in the program's record book. In addition, Agolli moved up into fourth place with 68 career points.  His PK goal also made him the all-time leader with six penalty kick goals.  Agolli is a perfect 6-for-6 in his career. 
 
* Senior goalkeeper Brendan Werner made seven saves in net for the Nittany Lions after facing 13 shots by the Spartans.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting between Abington and York since the start of the 2013 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-2-1 versus the Spartans in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 as the Nittany Lions open United East Conference play at the University of Valley Forge.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
