How It Happened

* McDowell set the program record in goals scored in the seventh minute of action.  McDowell tied former teammate's Grace Burns goal total of 29 at the 6:26 mark and then :30 seconds later became the all-time goals leader with her 30th career score.  McDowell's two quick scores gave the Nittany Lions a 2-0 advantage.

* Freshman Kaitlyn Frank gave the Nittany Lions a 3-0 lead with her second goal of the season in the ninth minute.  Freshman Madison Eseman recorded her first collegiate assist on the play.

* At thirty minutes, Abington started a stretch of five unanswered goals in a 10-minute span.  Freshman Meghan McGinly scored the first of five goals in the 31st minute.  McDowell then followed with two more goals, before junior Giavonna Rebilas added a goal off a penalty kick opportunity.  McGinly capped the first half scoring with her second goal in the 40th minute.

* McDowell scored the game's final goal in the 67th minute marking her fifth goal of the game setting a new single season record.

* Senior goalkeeper Abby Brunnell didn't face a single shot by the Cardinals as she earned her second career shutout.

Inside the Box Score

* McDowell's five goals in the game increased her career total to 33 marking the new program standard in career scores.  She also set the program record for most career points after assisting on McGinley's first goal in the 31st minute.  McDowell surpassed former standout Michelle Latronica (2014-2017) who totaled 69 points in her career.  McDowell now sits tops all-time with 76.

* McDowell also set the program's single game record with five goals in a game as well as total points with 11 (5G|1A).  The previous record of four goals in a game was set by multiple players with the most recent coming in 2022 when Burns scored four goals against Gwynedd Mercy University.  Latronica, along with three others, held the mark for most points in a game with nine.  Latronica total nine points in a game versus Gallaudet University in 2016.

* Abington's nine goals scored versus the Cardinals tied the school record.  The last time the Nittany Lions tallied nine goals in a single game was in 2016 versus Saint Elizabeth University.
