Abington Falls Short Versus Rutgers-Camden

Abington, Pa. – A penalty kick goal in the 68th minute turned out to be the difference maker as the Rutgers University-Camden defeated the Penn State Abington men's soccer team, 1-0, in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* In a well-played defensive game by both teams, the first and only goal of the game came midway through the second half.  A controversial foul called inside the outer part of the box led to a penalty kick attempt for Rutgers-Camden.  Tommy Monaghan took the shot for the Scarlet Raptors and scored with a shot towards the lower-left of the net to break the scoreless tie.
 
* Minutes before the penalty goal, Abington senior Eljo Agolli nearly gave the Nittany Lions the game's first lead as his shot beat the Rutgers-Camden keeper, but hit off the right-post.
 
* Abington finished the game with five shots, all in the second half, with three on-target.  Rutgers-Camden finished with seven shots for the game.

* Senior Brendan Werner totaled a pair of saves for the Nittany Lions in net; one in each half.
 
* Senior Arsene Bado totaled two of the team's five shots with both on-target.
 
* Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper, Sean Boen, made three saves to register a shutout win.
