Abington Finishes in a Scoreless Draw with Shenandoah

Winchester, Va. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer team traveled down to Winchester, Va. to face Shenandoah University in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Glo Fiber Field at Shentel Stadium.  The Nittany Lions and Hornets finished in a 0-0 tie.
 
How It Happened
 
* Both teams combined for just five shots in the opening half as senior goalkeeper Brendan Werner made two early saves for the Nittany Lions.  The Hornets had two shots on-goal within the first five minutes of the half and were held without a shot until the 36th minute.
 
* The Hornets ripped off 14 shots in the second half but only four were on-goal.  Werner made a late save in the 86th minute to keep the game tied and scoreless. 
 
* The Nittany Lions had one shot in the second half by sophomore Amerr Yagoub.  Senior Arsene Bado and sophomore Hugh Nungessor each had a shot in the first half.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
*  Werner made six saves in net for the Nittany Lions and recorded his first shutout of the season.  It marked his fourth of his career and his first since 2021.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Shenandoah.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 as the Nittany Lions host Manhattanville University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Memorial Field.
