Abington Rolls Past Falcons, 78-40

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team made quick work of Cedar Crest College as the Nittany Lions came away with a 78-40 victory over the Falcons in United East Conference action on Tuesday night at the Abington Athletic Building.

How It Happened
 
* Abington scored the first eight points of the game and never looked back.  The Nittany Lions held the Falcons to just three field goals in the opening quarter and led 15-8 heading into the second frame.
 
* The Nittany Lions grabbed their first double-digit lead of the game after sophomore Kylie Frey hit a three-pointer early in the second quarter.  Frey's three made the score 20-8. 
 
* Cedar Crest cut the lead down to single digits midway through the quarter after Maliya Gonzalez converted a free throw to complete a three-point play.  With the score 22-13, freshman Hailey Revak knocked down back-to-back three-pointers that jumpstarted a 14-0 run for the Nittany Lions.  Abington expanded its lead to 36-13 and finished the half with a 38-17 advantage.
 
* Abington came out firing in the third quarter scoring a game-high 26 points in the frame, while holding Cedar Crest to just seven points. The Nittany Lions outscored the Falcons, 40-23, in the second half.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sophomore Amina Reid recorded her fourth double-double of the season as she finished with 12 points and a game-high 11 assists tying her career-high.  This is the third time this season that Reid has dished out 11 assists in a game.  She also had a pair of steals on defense.
 
* Sophomore Amirah Hackney finished with a game-high 15 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
* Junior Tori Tolson set a season-high with 12 rebounds as she finished one point shy of a double-double with nine points.  Tolson also had a team-high three steals.
 
* Frey finished the night with 11 points and six rebounds, while junior Esther Cole added 10 points and five rebounds. 
 
* For Cedar Crest, Bryanna Rivera led the team with 15 points, while Rachel Bilger finished with 13 points and nine boards.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the sixth meeting between Abington and Cedar Crest since the start of the 2012-13 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 6-0 versus the Falcons in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 30 as the Nittany Lions host Neumann University in a non-conference contest.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
