Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Abington Overpowers Patriots, 10-0

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team scored a season-high 10 goals as the Nittany Lions defeated the University of Valley Forge, 10-0, in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.  It marked the team's third straight shutout in which Abington has outscored its opponents by a 14-0 margin.

How It Happened
 
* Abington had seven different players score goals in the first half, including two with multiple goals for the game.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Frank recorded her first career hat-trick with goals scored in the 24th minute and the 58th and 68th minutes.  Junior Nayeska Ravelo also scored multiple goals in the game as she finished with two scores.  One in the first half in the 12th minute and another in the second half in the 62nd minute.
 
* Abington jumped out to a 3-0 lead within the first 12 minute of action. Sophomore Christel Emmanuel got things started with her first goal of the season in the fourth minute.  Sophomore Meghan McGinly doubled the Abington lead with a score in the 10th minute before Ravelo made the score 3-0 with her first goal of the game.
 
* Seniors Madison Schmitt and Giavonna Rebilas along with sophomore Meghan McMeel each tallied their first goals of the season in the first half scoring barrage.

*  Frank now has a career-high eight goals scored this season after recording her first career hat-trick.  She also had three assists in the game tying the program's single game record.  Frank finished the game with nine points which is tied for second most points in a single game.
 
* Ravelo tied her career-high with six points after totaling two goals and two assists.  Her two scores now gives her 20 in her career which ranks seventh all-time.
 
* Goalkeepers Kayla Kulp and Sam Ridler split time in net as the duo combined for a team shutout.
 
* Abington outshot the Patriots, 46-0, marking the first time this season the Nittany Lions held an opponent without a shot.  The 46 shots are the third most taken by Abington all-time.
 
* For Valley Forge, Abigail Wood totaled 15 saves in net.

Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Valley Forge.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Lancaster Bible College in a United East contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
