Abington Shutout by Neumann

Aston, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team dropped a non-conference match at Neumann University by the score of 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at ESCS Memorial Courts.

How It Happened
 
* Abington and Neumann battled at doubles down to the final point.  At first and second doubles, the Knights edged the Nittany Lions by identical 7-6 scores to earn the team point.  Neumann won both tie-breaks, 7-5. 
 
* At third doubles to the duo of sophomores Adnan Aldamrawi and Joseph Mouendi defeated Neumann's Adam Barisa and Chandler Wolf, 6-2.  The victory marked the first collegiate win for the two of them.
 
* In singles play, sophomore Vlad Borodaykevych went the distance against Luca Troilo.  After dropping the first set, 6-1, Borodaykevych rallied and took the second set by the score of 6-4.  However, in the third set tie-breaker, Troilo came away with a 10-8 victory to take the match.
 
* Neumann won all six team points in singles competitions.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the third meeting between Abington and Neumann since the start of the 2023-24 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 2-1 versus the Knights in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 as the Nittany Lions host Immaculata University in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 11 a.m. at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.
