Abington Falls to Berks, 2-0

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team dropped a United East Conference (ECU) contest against Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.  Prior to the game, the Nittany Lions recognized seniors Amanda Armstrong, Madison Schmitt, Giavonna Rebilas, Nikki Fischbach and Kyrsten Strange who were competing in one of their final home regular season games at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* Berks scored early in the opening half when Faith Wavershak connected on what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the eighth minute of play. 
 
* Abington had opportunities later in the half to tie the game but Berks goalkeeper Sophia Gonzalez made two stops on shots by sophomore Sara Hogan in the 23rd minute and Strange in the 28th minute.  The two saves preserved the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
 
* In the second half, Berks added an insurance goal doubling its lead in the 76th minute.  Devon Deery connected on her second goal of the season.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Abington goalkeeper Sam Ridler made three saves in net.
 
* Junior Nayeska Ravelo and sophomore Meghan McGinly each had two shots in the game, including one on-goal.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 19th meeting between Abington and Berks since the start of the 2011 season.  Abington is now 2-15-2 versus Berks in the all-time series.

Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 as the Nittany Lions host St. Mary's College (Md.) in the team's home regular season finale.  Game time is set for 3 p.m.
