How It Happened

* Abington trailed early on in the first half after a free kick from just outside the box led to the Highlanders first and only goal.  Alijah Miller connected on the kick scoring his 10th goal of the season in the 13th minute to give Cairn a 1-0 lead.

* The Nittany Lions didn't trail for long with the equalizing goal coming in the 20th minute.  Attis scored the first of his two goals to tie the game at 1-1.  Junior Laurence Narcisi assisted on the score sending a cross pass from the right side towards Attis inside the box.

* The score remained tied the rest of the first half and deep into the second as the game entered the final 10 minutes of play with neither team finding the go-ahead score.  Finally, in the 84th minute, Attis came through with his second goal beating the goalie with a shot towards the right to give the Nittany Lions a 2-1 lead.

* Abington added an insurance goal in the 87th minute to put the game out of reach with less than four minutes to play in the half.  Sophomore Frankie Rafferty, who assisted on Attis' go-ahead goal, scored a goal of his own with sophomore Rael Halim being credit with the helper.  Rafferty faked out the goalie and had a wide-open shot finding the lower right side of the net.

Inside the Box Score

*  The victory was also a historic one for senior goalkeeper Brendan Werner who recorded his 20th victory in net.  He tied former standout Esteban Leon for the most wins by a goalkeeper in program history.  Leon won 20 games from 2018-2019.

* The two goals scored by Attis marked his second multi-goal game of the season.  He now has five goals on the year tied with junior Hugh Nungessor and Mohamed Konneh for the team lead.

* Rafferty recorded his team-high seventh assist of the season. He is currently tied atop the United East leaderboard in assists with Lancaster Bible College's Andrew Cox.

* Abington outshot Cairn, 14-3, and held a one-sided advantage on corners at 8-0.  The Nittany Lions had six corner kick attempts in the second half alone.
