Abington Blanks Falcons, 2-0

Allentown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout as the Nittany Lions defeated Cedar Crest College, 2-0, in a United East Conference (UEC) contest on Tuesday night at the FalconPlex.

How It Happened
 
* The Abington offense kept the pressure on the Cedar Crest defense all game as the Nittany Lions outshot the Falcons, 23-3.  Abington had 11 of its 23 shots on-target, including six in the first half.
 
* Junior Nayeska Ravelo fired off eight shots in the game and gave the Nittany Lions an early 1-0 advantage after connecting on her second goal of the season in the 15th minute of action. Sophomore Meghan McMeel was credited with the assist on the score.
 
* Abington maintained the one goal lead deep into the second half.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Frank gave the team some breathing room in the 76th minute when she scored her fifth goal of the season to double the lead at 2-0.  Senior Amanda Armstrong setup the scoring play with her second assist of the season.
 
* The Abington defense held the Falcons to just three shots with only one being on-goal.  Sam Ridler made the team's lone save in net as she played the second half of the game.  Junior Kayla Kulp started the game in net and recorded a blank slate in the first half as the two keepers recorded a team shutout.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Nayeska's first half goal was her 18th career score.  She now ranks ninth all-time in goals scored.
 
* Frank has now recorded at least one point in six of her last seven games.  She has five goals and two assists in that span.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and Cedar Crest.  The Nittany Lions won last year's matchup by a similar 2-0 score at Memorial Field.

Abington returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 as the Nittany Lions host the University of Valley Forge in United East action.  Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Memorial Field.
