Abington Dominates Highlanders; Wins 10th United East Contest

Langhorne, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team improved to 10-2 in conference play after defeating Cairn University, 94-51, in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Mason Activity Center.

How It Happened
 
* Abington scored the first 22 points of the game and held the Highlanders without a basket until the 1:18 mark of the opening quarter.  The Nittany Lion surge was fueled by six three-pointers, including three by freshman Hailey Revak who finished with a game-high 24 points. Sophomore Kylie Frey had two three-pointers in the quarter, while junior Tori Tolson capped the scoring with a three-pointer of her own.
 
*  After outscoring the Highlanders, 22-5, in the first quarter, the Nittany Lions poured in 26 points in the second frame to lead 48-21 at the half.  In the opening half, Abington shot 12-of-21 from three-point range.
 
* The Abington offense connected on six more three's in the second half; all coming in the fourth quarter to finish the game with a season-high 18 made three-pointers. The 18 three-pointers tied the program record for most three-pointers in a game.  The team connected on 18 three's at Penn College back on February 19, 2016.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Revak led all scorers with a season-high 24 points as she connected on a season-best eight three-pointers.  She also had two steals.
 
* Tolson recorded her second double-double of the season as she tied her season-high with 12 points and set a new season-high with 13 rebounds.  She also dished out five assists and had three steals and a block on defense.
 
* Frey also set a season-high in scoring as she finished with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range.  She also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
 
* Junior Naila Newman filled the box score with 13 points, six rebounds and a game-high eight assists.
 
* Sophomore Amirah Hackney also scored in double-figures as she finished with 12 points and four boards.
 
* Freshman Nicole Dudzinski scored a season-high nine points and totaled a season-best nine rebounds.
 
* Freshman Tarianda Washington added six points and seven rebounds.
 
* For Cairn, Dezaray Bright and Emily Brittin each recorded double-doubles.  Bright finished with 13 points and 12 boards, while Brittin totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sobrino led the team with 15 points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 10th meeting between Abington and Cairn since the start of the 2011-12 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 9-1 versus the Highlanders in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 5 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Wilson College in a United East match-up.  Game time is set for 5 p.m.
